Get this drive quickly from ShopDigi. It was correctly recognized by Windows 7 Home Edition when plugged into the USB port on my Gateway NV79 laptop. The drive seems to be working a bit harder than what I previously remembered, but it formatted the disk correctly once I logged in as a full user. The product listing clearly says "Teac External drive.by Teac" and Teac is mentioned in several places. The product I received does not show any indication that it belongs to Teac. Not on the box, not on the item itself. In addition, the photo in the listing shows a built-in noise canceller, which is very common on this type of device and gives the product a reasonable look. The item I received did not have a built-in noise canceller. The item looks like a generic, unnamed device made in China. I have not taken the item apart to see if the drive is actually in the teac but it looks like they would say so from the outside if they made the item as promised in the listing. Updated 1/6/2011. I used software to identify the floppy drive I received, it's "Mitsumi" and not Teac, which explains why it's noisy. I would have preferred what was advertised on the listing (Teac).
