Excellent Router: Power Tools

I am a keen DIY enthusiast and have recently replaced 10 interior doors with a Bosch 1617EVS router, a Ryiobi door hinge and latch kit and a Dewalt door lock kit. With these tools it was easy to cut holes for hinges, holes for door handles and latches. I recommend using all of these. Bought door caps. Some of them were too wide and I cut them with a table saw. I just put the old door down on a saw with a 2x4 brace supporting the outside edges. It worked well. The pair was too long which I cut with a saw. Ryobi's hinge guide was ideal for milling the hinge cutouts. It is tight and precise, including adjustment of the milling depth. Make sure the router stops before removing it from the jig. This eliminates the plastic cutting mentioned in other reviews. The Bosch router is great. It starts off very smoothly with a controlled rev up. I didn't feel any vibration and it was easy to control and steer. This is my first router and I am very impressed. The Dewalt Door Lock Fitting Kit is great for cutting holes in the door and latch mechanism. I just cut carefully to not chew through the plastic. I had an extra 1" hole saw to cut a hole in the latch mechanism. The guide is solidly attached to the door. The Ryobi door latch kit was the only weak link. Ryobi needs a guide on how to route latches such as Provide a set of hinges. It is difficult to keep the jig steady and parallel to the door when hitting it with a hammer.I've used wood chisels like others to remove the wood and a dremel with a cutter to round the corners.
