Excellent performance. A bad design flaw.

I love Bosch products. My first combination drill was a Bosch 18V and I really liked it. I regret selling it. My first router was Bosch Colt. love too! So I've had this router for two days and over the last two days I've been digging through a bunch of stuff to make angled locks for the boxes we make to hold gallon jugs of hand sanitizer. After today's session I wanted to turn off the router and noticed that the power button wasn't fully in the off position. Use it a few more times and the…

Competes cheaply with PC but needs a better base plate

This router was purchased to do everything from edging to dovetail and slot work. Also bought a PC 690LR and a PC 892. I held and powered on all three routers and quickly returned both PC routers as they didn't have the same level of processing as this one. I don't criticize the PC since I have the 7518 in my desk, but the Bosch products look, feel and run much smoother with less vibration, startup noise and bearing noise during operation. The downside to this router in my opinion is that the…

Ideal for CNC use!

Ideal for use in a CNC router! First I routed this router through double hockey sticks by using it on a CNC router. I've cut steel, aluminum, shields and V-threads in hardwoods and softwoods like butter. After 2 years on a CNC machine and about 20 hours of non-stop work a week, I've finally killed the bottom bearing by cutting a 1.25" piece of soapstone into an awesome grooved cutting board/serving tray. The router still works fine, but there is dust. hit the camp and made it loud. After that I

Excellent Router: Power Tools

I am a keen DIY enthusiast and have recently replaced 10 interior doors with a Bosch 1617EVS router, a Ryiobi door hinge and latch kit and a Dewalt door lock kit. With these tools it was easy to cut holes for hinges, holes for door handles and latches. I recommend using all of these. Bought door caps. Some of them were too wide and I cut them with a table saw. I just put the old door down on a saw with a 2x4 brace supporting the outside edges. It worked well. The pair was too long which I cut…

Very strong, full featured router at a very solid price

The ancient router I had in my router table died for good and it was actually the day after I bought it had JessEm Rout-R-Lift II router lift for 3-1/2" engines, JessEm #02310. So I needed another router too (big sigh). Although I'd prefer a 3.5L router. Wasn't considered because (a) my router lift accepts 3.5" motors and (b) larger router motors are more expensive (as are routers that can handle them properly). I considered a scenario where I'm returning the elevator I just bought and built my

What's good about it? Best in Routers

I bought this particular router because of 1. brand, 2. claims of variable speed compensation and e-speed and 3. production time (although this can be an indication of quality) I have built it into Jessem's newly completed lift table. It was believed that a good combination that I was willing to give was a test. I installed a lock bit and cut 3/4 of the poplar wood as a test of the bit setting. The router could not support RPM and indicated that I could completely stop it with any additional…
