Review on FPLX Pairs Carrier Trucks Straps by Tim Evans

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to assemble and keeps kayaks firmly in place

I installed them on a 2002 Ford Windstar van with factory roof racks. The assembly of the kayak cases was easy according to the instructions (see photo). Installing kayak racks onto an existing roof rack was easy enough, but a little tedious for two reasons: 1) The van roof rack appears to be worn out. Low clearance style (see photos) and 2) the instructions show how to install a flat washer, a standard hex nut, and then a fiber nut (black nuts with finger grips). The tedious part was putting a washer and nut on the carriage bolt, holding the bottom plate in place, then making sure both sides were loose to install the fiber nuts. When that's done, just tighten everything up like you would with ski racks or other roof rack accessories. The kayak holder holds the kayaks well and the included straps hold the kayaks in place very well, although I prefer the ratchet mount. The included straps work well. These FPLX racks had the best price on Revain and are worth it.

Pros
  • Longer Life 💡: Kayak roof racks are made of high quality steel and the smooth machined surface offers stronger protection against scratches and rust.
Cons
  • Not sure
