Better than paying $3,000 for the next set of my new Equinox

I recently bought a 2019 Equinox and had no intention of upgrading the $3000 trim level to essentially get satellite radio. The installation didn't go too bad. To make it look nice, you'll probably need to remove some parts of the dashboard to route cables and place equipment. If you search the internet for the Metra for the vehicle you are installing it in you can find some information on how to remove some parts. The product itself is pretty simple. Start the antenna and connect it to the xm tuner. Connect the xm tuner to the via block. Route the USB cable from the vias to the vehicle's USB port. You can hide most of it in the dash and squeeze the USB cable between the panels. Instructions for connecting the power supply are very lacking. The power connection must be made at the fuse box near the hood opening in the driver's cab. You will need a mini fuse for this. Find a fuse that is in use and has a constant rating, use a multimeter to test it when the car is off. To do this, feel the hot side of the fuse entry with the unpainted part of the frame. If you can get around 12V, you've found what you need. Once you find the correct fuse, connect the two wires from the vias to the faucet using the built in connector, some even come with the faucet. Grounding requires you to find a piece of unpainted metal to attach these wires to. Below the steering wheel is an unpainted piece of metal that helps hold the lower vent. I drilled a small hole in it and used a ring ferrule and screw to set the bottom. Device turned on and it worked fine. The biggest advantage of this product is that there is no visible clutter and you can use the native radio controls. The downsides are that navigating channels through the artist menu is a little shaky. , but you can set favorites for radio stations that are built into FM and AM Favorites, which helps mitigate this. In addition, Equinox "indexes" the media every time you start the car. It usually only lasts a minute or two, but during that time you won't be able to exit the last played satellite radio station. So try changing the channel before turning off the car if you drive lightly. the next autostart.

Pros
  • . Keep Factory Radio. No more annoying attachment of the dashboard necessary. No need to use FM modulation adapters
Cons
  • Security
