Review on Universal 9000-36000 Condenser Mounting Conditioner by James Pfettscher

Not for mechanical problems!

Where to start? Out of the box, this mount feels great. When you start installing it, you'll find that it's not that good. **The mount is designed for a flat wall of concrete, plaster, or cinder block** When the vertical member is mounted vertically, the arms that the condenser sits on tilt back 1/2 inch per foot! When installing on a typical dual 4 x vinyl fairing you will need 3-1" thick washers under the top horizontal section or you will crush the first section of fairing and the shoulder drop will be 1" per foot. Unacceptable. Instructions call for 3 retarded screws on top horizontal section and 3 straps on each arm. The instructions say that the horizontal part is not load-bearing! This means you will need 3 more washers of different thicknesses for EACH arm. not acceptable so the instructions call for a total of 9 locking bolts. There are only 8 grommets, 8 washers and 8 giant concrete mollys, some leftover plastic to make enough spacers for the project, unfortunately this will add a week or so to installation and will need to purchase longer screws to accommodate the thickness of the spacers. The hardware is zinc plated so it will start to rust in 3-5 years so I'll probably upgrade to stainless steel. If I had access to a stainless steel Unistrut I would send it back and weld on some of my own mounts. The only reason I'll keep it and make it work is good rubber isolation mounts. Great design but poor execution.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
