The tape peeled the paint off my real window. windows, so I don't recommend using that. The closest thing I found was to wrap the duct in special tape that holds the heat up to 212 degrees. After wrapping the duct with this tape, I wrapped the duct with a towel right by the window. As a result, additional heat flowing through is absorbed. This kit comes with a small weatherstrip to fill the gap from the middle panel of this kit. To be honest I didn't even have to use it. This kit has worked so well for me. However, just in case, I used a small piece on the middle panel. This kit stays perfectly on my window with no tape holding it in place. I am beyond excited about this kit. I wish I had it from day one. I would buy this set again and again.
