It can be attached in three ways: to the TV mount (with Velcro straps), to the wall (with two screws) or to the TV itself (using the plastic hooks and TV holes). The hooks can be used to mount these either horizontally or vertically and the bracket comes with a wide range of different types to ensure you find the right ones to work with your TV. I personally chose to just use screws as there are two tiny screw holes in my wall. it doesn't really bother me. The mount itself is perfect for the Apple TV, it's snug but not so tight that inserting or removing the Apple TV becomes an issue, and the opening has enough room to access all ports. If you're worried about being able to control your Apple TV with the remote, don't. I was a little skeptical about a distant signal reflecting off walls or ceilings, but it works great. To be honest, I don't even have to point the remote at the ceiling, just point it in close proximity to the TV as usual and everything works fine.
