The basket has a rubber plug which is designed so it cannot be repositioned to allow water to drain out of the sink. We tried to get around this by rotating the basket in the drain so it was slanted from the ledge that was supposed to hold it securely in place, hoping the plug wouldn't break and clog the sink. However, when the water flows moderately or heavily, it slowly turns the basket and puts it back in place, and thus the plug works and the sink fills with water. The basket also feels flimsy and cheap - which I expected given the low price - but all it does is clog the sink. So unless you intend to use it primarily as a sink stopper, this thing is useless.
