Good product, some assembly problems

Works fine for me for a week now. I've read previous reviews that helped with assembly, particularly the part about how to first push the two plastic halves closest to the metal together like a mortise and tenon rather than just trying to snap the two halves together. The problem I had from this point on was that it was difficult to then connect the two halves together: problem one if you just lay the electronics on the side without the buttonholes and try to make the half with the buttonholes down lift, it will signal the alarm button and can't actually squeeze past the alarm button (though it did set off the car alarm several times, which my neighbors will appreciate). To work around this problem, I turned the key so the plastic side with the buttonholes was facing down and the electronics/buttons were in their holes before attempting to snap the halves into place. The second problem: locking the key. Closing the two halves so that the two halves snap fully into place was difficult and required a lot of force, especially at the end where the key ring hole is (where there is a wide tab that snaps into the notch on the other half). The force required was more than I could muster with my own hands. What worked for me was to use the inside of some wide soft plastic handles of a (manual) can opener to squeeze the two halves together with a can opener like soft-nosed pliers. I didn't want to use pliers for fear they would break the key fob and I didn't have a soft jawed vise or I would have used them. But eventually it fit perfectly and works/feels/looks like a brand new key minus the 15 year old metal and plastic collar on metal. Note on the RFID chip: I first removed a supposed chip from the box area. in my original key by releasing the tabs on the side. It turned out that if this bat was transferred to the new key fob it was just a cover and the car would not start. I had to get the chip out from underneath where the cover was (before I pulled it out it wasn't obvious that this was the chip). They may or may not have a lid, so be careful not to use the rectangular piece of plastic with the tabs on it, it's a lid. Instead, use a slightly polygonal bit with no tabs (I have tiny white letters on it), that's the trick. In the end I think I saved a lot of money.
