Review on Cuisinart MCP194-20N MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 4-Quart Saucepan with Lid - Top Pick for Kitchen Cookware by Angela Jackson

Nice pot but missing small parts that would make it easier to use

I bought a 4 liter pot because I wanted a bigger than the standard pot but not watering wanted a full pot. The bowl itself is very good. It heats up quickly and evenly. But because it's bigger, it's a bit heavier than a regular pot, especially when it contains water. That extra gallon of water weighs another two pounds. There is no auxiliary handle opposite the handle. It takes two hands to lift a full pot and the existing handle is quite narrow. But also because leverage is important, it's easier to lift and maneuver the pot if you keep the handle very close to the pot. The manufacturer advertises this as having a handle that doesn't disperse heat, but the base of the handle is right next to the stove. The base of the handle gets hot! A handle is required to grasp. So now two hands in an oven mitt (or one hand in an oven mitt and the other hand in the first hand) when you want to pick up the pot and dump it out. So. Massive tack, potty grip, possibly both hands. It's not ergonomic. All it needs is a grip loop on the handle and maybe a more heat-resistant handle near the pot. If they would adapt the design for this it would improve this pan a lot. I'll keep it because it's pretty much the only 4 quart pot available that doesn't cost a billion dollars or has a terrible lid (the lid is light, but at least it's not glass!). But unless you're very strong, it's a clumsy pot.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Difficult to remember but it was
