LET'S SEE HOW FOOD CHANGES COLOR

I have to admit that until recently I wasn't a fan of stainless steel cookware, most of my pots, pans and frying pans have a quality non-stick coating. But there's a problem when you want to cook something where you have to watch the ingredients discolour. Caramel sauce is a good example where you need to be able to see the color change and stop it before it gets too light. dark or it will be destroyed. This is simply not possible with non-stick surfaces as they are dark. Another thing I…

Requires an extra handle. Best of Pots and Pans

I was looking for a 4 liter saucer and found this. I think it's decent quality.2. The grip isn't that impressive. It's not big and thick enough to lift a 4 liter pot. My favorite pen is the Standard Cook. Worst - All-Clad3. Design problem: A thin handle is not enough for this 4 liter pot. On the other hand, you definitely need a small support handle. It gets very heavy with food inside, and carrying a pan with a handle that thin is very, very difficult. I don't plan on topping it with just 1…

Beautiful bowl - great price!

This pot has something bigger for cooking pasta, but not as big as my giant pot. And something that isn't as heavy as my Dutch Oven Calphalon. In other words, we needed a good medium-sized frying pan for jobs where our other frying pans weren't quite up to scratch. This Cuisinart pan fills the bill and distributes the heat well. We already have the AllClad (much more expensive and very high quality) as well as a few other Cuisinart pans, but this one seems to be just as good as the AllClad and…

Great pan for pasta!

I had a Cuisinart 3L Chef's Classic casserole and loved the size and shape. I have a number of Cook's Standard layering pans that I like, but the Cuisinart models with handles are slightly larger in diameter and work well with the single burner on the glass range top that I use. I wanted another pot, similar to the 3 liter Chef Classic but maybe a little bigger, so I decided to try this 4 liter model. I often cook fresh pasta and this pan is very suitable for the job. I've been using the Cook's

Great workhorse!

I've had this pan for 1.5 years and it's a real ballerina! A real gem for any home cook and I think the professional would appreciate its usefulness and durability as well. See the excellent OldProChef review for more details. I really beat this pan, even accidentally leaving it on a hot coil burner (empty and full) too many times to count. What can I say, I'm the mother of a violent baby! But this pan always cleans well (with some bartender friends). I even wet it today and it's almost as…

Nice pot but missing small parts that would make it easier to use

I bought a 4 liter pot because I wanted a bigger than the standard pot but not watering wanted a full pot. The bowl itself is very good. It heats up quickly and evenly. But because it's bigger, it's a bit heavier than a regular pot, especially when it contains water. That extra gallon of water weighs another two pounds. There is no auxiliary handle opposite the handle. It takes two hands to lift a full pot and the existing handle is quite narrow. But also because leverage is important, it's…

Professional review. Cuisinart works just as well as All-Clad.

Superb practicality is what sets this 4 quart gemstone apart. ATK did not test this pan when they awarded the Tramontina pan for best prize. ATK used "Chef Classic", which is not a full 3-layer pan, but a multi-layer bottom pan. I ordered both this and the Tramontina pan to compare to the All-Clad I already own. I chose Cuisinart because it's a lot prettier than All-Clad or Tramontina. The all-clad skillet has a tapered, thin handle that makes it much harder to control heavy ingredients than…
