we have a trailer behind a motorcycle. My husband mounted the spare tire in the front and wanted it to be protected. I found this for him and it is exactly what he was looking for. He put it on in the cooler weather so it was a bit difficult to put it on over the hoop. If that's a problem for someone, maybe just make sure it's room temperature so the lid is a little more manageable. Also, there is NO lace as stated in the description, not sure why it's there.
