Transparent Black by HatchBox

Received this "Transparent Black" today. It's not actually black, more like silver. My first print came out significantly warped and dull light gray. Then I realized this is ABS printed at PLA temperature. By increasing the temperature I got a beautifully printed glossy result. This HatchBox filament will print just as well as any other HatchBox filament. Because it's translucent it's not as smooth as say blue or (true) black, but they all print very well. For those readers who found a significant difference in filament diameter, I can't say I found the same thing. All of the coils I have purchased have been very stable and within diameter specification. I have more trouble with a specific thread color than anything else. I don't like them blue or red. I probably won't buy this transparent black again, although it's not a color that I really need. However, if I ever need this color I would buy another roll without hesitation. To be honest I was expecting/hoping that the color would be a lot more black. This particular color should be called "silver". One more thing about the man who said his filament was clogging the extruder with "dust". If the comment was trying to describe an extruder feed error, your nozzle may not have been properly adjusted over the build bed. This is especially common when very sophisticated print layers are used. The pressure required to push the molten plastic out of the nozzle is too high because the gap between the print bed and the nozzle is too small. This will cause the extruder gear to notch the filament and prevent the filament from moving. it's just a hydraulic lock on a very small scale. If this happens, also check the tooth screw or extruder gear and clean the teeth of any plastic that may be clogged between them, then check the original Z-axis clearance and bed height. It can also help to print the first layer at 150%.
