Please note the design change
The new material is a white/silver mesh instead of a "honeycomb" bluish/blue plastic. Somewhat similar to a wire mesh pre-filter, but definitely different. The product label indicates that the filter medium works more efficiently than its predecessor. Time will tell if they perform better and/or last longer than the old design. Edit: Once installed, they undoubtedly flow better than the previous aqua carrier type. I'm not sure how to compare or measure which filter is better. I just have to assume they do what they say they do.
