Why don't you use a 90 degree charging cable?
These 90 degree connectors have slightly reduced the amount of e-waste in my house as the flat connector is less likely to damage the phone (if dropped for example) and is easier to use when plugged in , which no longer exerts pressure where the cable enters the plug. My kids used to damage their charging cords and I seemed to keep buying more and more until we switched to these. This particular brand is better than the last one I bought. The connector appears to be of good quality and the connection is solid. I had no problems with that.
