Review on Polder Induction-Ready Stainless Steel Whistling Kettles - Fast Heating, 3-Ply Encapsulation, Gumdrop (2.6-Quart) by Robin Baker

A very good kettle. - Kettle

searched page after page of kettles before I found this one. Most of them have plastic caps that hold the whistle capsule. Plastic always decomposes and eventually throws pieces into the water when the capsule falls out. So no plastic caps. This greatly narrows the field. I chose this because he had the fewest complaints of hot hands etc. Here's what I found. It's well done for the most part. There was an issue with a greasy residue inside that wasn't dishwasher safe. I had to use mineral spirits to get it out, whatever it was. The rest of the design is very good. Robust stainless steel bottom. Good heat transfer to water. There was a problem opening the lid. It's spring-loaded, so when you push the button, the top files open in the middle and spit boiling water onto your hand. Ouch! Very slow button presses help, but you'll still get boiling water splashes every now and then. Another thing that didn't impress me was the nib itself. It looks like it's starting to rust and I have serious doubts about its durability. Just take a look. The handle stays cool with any reasonable flame size. Overall I think I would buy this again given the lack of metal cap types.
