Today I bought a packet of trail mix - one of those really strong, almost leathery, sealed plastic ziplock bags that you just want to tear open. Except that when ripping, the rip path never ends properly. If I had a knife, or better yet, scissors, I would be fine. But without it I just tried to open the bag, which failed miserably. Then I remembered my claw. I was able to use this to start a new tear and then expand that in a controlled manner, resulting in a nice tear that meant the pouch could again be closed as intended. I can not complain. This solved my problem.
