This is a fuel filter. It filters the fuel. Don't use it backwards. It doesn't work the other way around. It has an arrow showing the direction of flow. the arrow indicates the direction in which the fuel should flow. If you have a fuel shut off, make sure you close it before removing the old filter and installing the new one or you will spill fuel everywhere. If you don't have a fuel shutoff, pinch off the hose with a clamp. Use pliers to compress the spring clips that secure the filter to the fuel lines to remove and install. Hope that helps.
