Most modernized remotes use a cumbersome single button to control lamp power and dimming. This one gets it right with separate power, zoom-in, and zoom-out buttons. For those with 2 wire that you can't upgrade, this is the best option. The fan control works and is quite quiet. The only complaint I have is the rather long delay between turning it on and the lights/fan turning on. Unfortunately, after a thunderstorm, the lighting circuit no longer works. This can indicate weak components or just bad luck. I'm not looking forward to having to remove the fan to replace it. Update: After the replacement arrived, the light control inexplicably worked again. Strange. On the other hand I don't need to replace it and now have 2 remotes which I was going to get anyway. One stays on the wall and the other on the nightstand by the bed. I also have a backup receiver in case the problem reoccurs. Everything turned out better than I expected.
