Don't be afraid of loose stubble!
Overall this brush cleans the top of my stainless steel grates well. The woven steel grid is very stiff and will not go between the gratings without strong pressure. But there is a notched scraper around the bars and I find it works very well. The brush has a steel loop on the handle that I use to hang it up when not in use. The main reason this is recommended is so there is no fear of swallowing loose stubble.
