I bought these to replace the trunk dampers on my 2009 Scion tC. I never realized anything was wrong until my sunroof came loose from people pulling on the trunk lid to open it. Take a thin flat head and tuck it under this clip to pull it out. This applies to both ends of the rack. Once he comes out you can just pull the bar and he should come out. The new ones just snap into place without tools. The length was perfect so I didn't have to struggle with it.
