Rubber is not UV resistant

I installed this on a boat late in the season last year - never used, just getting ready for (outdoor) storage. It turned out that the tonneau cover didn't quite cover this and when I started using it at the start of the next season - about 6 months later - the rubber had a lot of tears. So I replaced it to no avail! The mechanism worked well and I will use it as a siphon pump until it fails, but it is not reliable enough for its intended use as a fuel bulb on a boat exposed to the elements.
