Bought 3 of these collars for a Labrador, Boxer and Chihuahua. I replaced martingale collars and bought flat non-hanging ID tags after finding my 2 year old labrador with a martingale collar in his mouth. The tags and collar were so tight in his mouth that I had to cut them out because the martingale collar type has a loop that attaches the tag and leash, but the collar is put on over the head without a buckle. What I didn't know when I bought the previous type of collars is that when you tighten the smaller loop, the collar pulls down. My labrador (as a puppy was chewing on rabies and the light ID tag went in his mouth and into the smaller collar loop. When he wrestled the collar tightened and was so tight, the more he wrestled the tighter it got. This guy Doesn't As I don't have an opening buckle I had to cut the collar off, I'm just glad it happened inside where I could see him start struggling and choking when it would happen outside can I can't even imagine what would be the reason why I chose this collar. It has a very nice strong buckle with locking function, it glows in the dark when light hits it. And it seems very well made. I like also the many 5 star color choices from me!
