Review on GEARWRENCH Master Mechanics Tool Set by James Rogers

I bought this as a shop kit to add to the fairly extensive USA Craftsman collection in the garage. The fit and finish, the quality of the product all seem pretty good. There is very little "lint" in it, no hex keys, screwdrivers etc. Nowhere is this set listed with an inventory of what is actually included in this set and no documents are provided with the set, like zero, no junk . No inventory list, no warranty info, no gearwrench hello, absolutely nothing. It's pretty well PACKED, double wall boxes inside other double wall boxes, although inside it's just pockets with everything just scattered around, sorted by variety, but loose. A pair of wrenches doesn't look particularly pristine, and the combination wrenches were just covered in greasy finger stains. Therefore, you don't need to prepare much before packing. Schedule a count to make sure you have everything, and as you analyze, prepare to identify some obviously missing pieces, and then find the count complete. There are some very strange omissions. Starting with a 1/2" disc. 6pt) for some reason missing 15/16 and 3/8 missing which is an oversight at the end of the size range so I can live with that. Metric is slightly larger everywhere, 10-19mm deep, 10-24 in 6pt and 8-24 in 12pt, all complete, no gaps in any series but certainly not generous, and frankly a 1/2" drive. However, some sockets lack the larger size range and are limited to one type in SAE and Metric. Metric deeps are almost ridiculously limited, being more in the 3/8" size range than 1/2" by 3/8" drive. Again, 6pt in deep and 6 and 12pt in shallow are in SAE all 3 equal 1/4"-1" on the 16th and are full. None of the 3 have a missing 15/16, and, except for the extra 1/4" bushing as the bottom dimension, it's the same Range like the 1/2 drive which seems odd and only makes the missing 15/16 space at 1/2" depth seem odder. e - all 6-22mm, no gaps in all 3 types unless there are a random 24mm socket 6 points deep so there is 23mm missing there, OK that's not uncommon for metric gaps in larger sizes but let's remember that 1/2" deep stops are at 19mm so there is there also not 23 deep, and why is 3/8 deep more than 1/2 deep? The 1/4" disc is perhaps the strangest of all. In inches we go from 3/16-9/16 deep (both 6 and 12 points this time) and 5/32-9/16 shallow. So obviously the shallow one 5/32, everyone has 7/32 and 9/32, and everyone BUT the flat 12pt has 11/32, why only this one? I think it's an understandable size to omit, but only in one of the 4"Types"? And then we have the strangest omission of all, in the 1/4 inch metric drive found in all four types from 4 to 15mm (+5.5mm) except for one size in deep 6 pt.Want to guess?10mm.I think Gearwrench thinks you're going to lose it anyway so they just pre-lose it for you.Similarly, any buyer of this set will be looking for the missing 10mm socket from day one. So it looks well made and coherent, the measurements are not particularly easy to read, but the SAE and Metric differ in the deep knurling on the metric. , no offset, no reverse gear , but seem to be decent. The ratchet heads look good. The 1/4-inch screwdriver handle isn't my cup of tea, but if there's an objectionable thing in the 312 crowd, I'd agree, and this piece in particular. On cursory inspection it appears comparable to industrial and truck tools and will probably work just as well 99% of the time as you would NOT use them in everyday industrial or professional driving environments 1 1/4" size or 1 1/2" in SAE and 30-32mm in metric. The disk depth / 2" metric is unforgivably weak, limited to just 19mm, especially considering ALL other socket types in drives are 1/2" and 3/8" go beyond that. And let's face it, no set of 300+ sockets is going to get 5 stars if a 10mm head is intentionally missing, I mean it must be in a joke somewhere.. I really hate the fact that my OCD is making up for the missing 15/16s, 11/32s and will just never allow the sin of all sins missing 10mm so i spent almost 600 bucks on a "master set" at revain and i need to stock it up on ebay and probably this 23mm too plus some big ones 1/2 in the process of adding to something that isn't Isn't that my main tool box Are these really necessary Not for me I have that kind of depth in other kits in another part of the house BUT if I have outlet organizers for it will buy, how is that a thing looser sat I've already ordered z, the columns are just a philosophical topic. It may well be that I'll never use those missing parts that I have to buy, but that's sort of the gist of it. "Feel" like a complete set, which it doesn't.
