Proper Air Conditioning Installation

Brought back from the dead, a '95 Chevy G20 van with leaking rear air conditioners. Make sure you use a good quality pipe cutter, deburr the ends and clean any debris. I like to use the mini vacuum cleaner. Install as close as possible to the compressor in the suction line and as close as possible to the condenser T in the liquid line. Clean the outside of the tube, I use copper wool. Lubricate the hose with the oil used in your system, page 46, page 150 etc. Thoroughly lubricate the green rubber seal. Don't over tighten, it only takes 18 ft lbs, the threads won't hold the pressure the green gaskets can. I installed them in a few hours, evacuated the system, closed the valves for an hour and the vacuum didn't increase. Topped up and lost oil injected, the system works well and is holding up great. I don't know how long they last. But it should buy you some time for a season or two. I always recommend soldering the ends of the hose if you want to permanently block the rear air conditioner.
