Great little pump that helped us empty our underground pool so we can clean it after years of neglect. While the ad says it removes dirt up to an inch in diameter, that's a misleading description. We had protruding seaweed, small leaves and some sand. Leaves often had to be removed from the inlet and sand settled in the discharge pipe shortly after leaving the pump. As long as you stay on top of dirt that might get stuck, this pump works great. He was able to empty the pool (about 4,000 gallons when we realized we needed a pump, not just a siphon) in a matter of hours. I can't comment on the noise level in the room, but it was fine outside. Any change in noise coming from the pump while running was nice to check for dirt stuck around or on the inlet. We were able to run the pump for 6-8 hours with no problem, but had to let it sit overnight (the pool looked like an extension of a canal a few feet away, so the project took several days). Overall a great pump well suited for medium sized projects.
