STOP THE BLEEDING AID.

>. "The most common preventable situation in life is uncontrolled bleeding." (Lifeguard quote from The Los Vegas Murders.) To help me in the event of a bleeding emergency, I put together a Stop the Bleeding First Aid Kit. Compiled with Revain products, at my special request.>. I used these wooden dowels in my Stop the Bleeding Emergency Pack. I taped them to my sterile compressed gauze bags. Although the compressed gauze is packaged with notches already folded into seals for ease of opening, I found it difficult to squeeze the top firmly enough with wet hands or wet gloves to effectively easily open the package. I was advised to reinforce the top of each pack with duct tape and a couple of wooden dowels for a comfortable grip on either end, making it easier to grab, pull and tear the gauze and wooden dowel easily.>. They are the perfect size to fit under the tape and over the notch on the gasket. Tear off a piece of regular cloth-backed tape that is slightly longer than the top of a compressed gauze bag. Position a dowel at each end of the top and apply tape to the dowel, to the top of the wrapper, and over the notches. While holding both dowels with tape, bend it to cover part of the other side of the wrapper. Tear off the second piece, attach the "backing" [doesn't matter] and fold over the first piece so the tape runs from one notch to the next and the dowels are also taped. Press firmly to attach the tape to the wrapper and anchors.>. Now wet hands (hopefully gloved) can grasp the gauze in the pouch with one hand and the pinned edge with the other, easily breaking the sealed sterile compressed gauze. IT WAS NOT MY IDEA, IT WAS RECOMMENDED.
