I needed a drive for my Zenbook that would run Windows and Ubuntu and read and write CDs and DVDs and after some research I decided on this one based on reviews decided (and knowing ASUS has great customer support). I've only had it five days and it's already ripped about 40 CDs to FLAC files and according to EAC it's doing a great job. it ran without problems via a single USB 3.0 port. My only complaint about it is that the plastic case is flexible enough that if you press down on the center while closing the drive, it will snag. In the short term it just means you have to use two hands, a minor inconvenience, but I wonder if that affects durability. So far this seems like a great cash stimulus.
