Review on πŸ”₯ IKTCH 30 Inch Under Cabinet Range Hood: Powerful 900-CFM Ventilation with Gesture Sensing Control Panel & Stainless Steel Design by Sedric Hood

Reliable product but disappointing in many ways

I wanted to write a detailed review of this IKC-01 hood model so that others can make an informed decision before purchasing this product. Pros: - slim, sleek profile and very good build quality - very good quality screen filters and easy to clean - dual fans are squirrel caged and unaffected - suction power is very good and consistent across the hood area. My previous one had a central fan and suction was uneven. - noise is acceptable at level 1 and 2 and gets louder at level 3 and 4, which is in line with other fans with a similar CFM rating (see video) - gesture control works very well and is very useful when hands are dirty - rounded edges make for a nice sleek look and are easy to clean - bright LED lights Cons: - my biggest complaint is that this isn't a standard 30" range hood. The width is 29.5β€³ leaving a 0.25β€³ gap on each side (see photo) which is noticeable and now grease can get into those narrow channels and cleaning becomes a nightmare. Too much hassle to disassemble and return and that's why I'm keeping this product - the top of this cap is not flat and comes with button head screws. So if you put it on top, there will be a gap between the cooker hood and the base cabinet. Bad design. I had to use flat head screws to attach or better rivet the fans. My previous hood (Broan QS-1) had a low profile and fit perfectly in a 30" hole. Gesture control is annoying when trying to clean the lens hood. Even with the power off, the fan turns on when you run your hand over the hood to clean it. There should have been some harsh power supply clipping - the touchscreen is great, but the LED display as the fan speed increases is very annoying. A static display with fan level would be sufficient. The remote control is a cool addition, but over the top. Not sure why anyone would need a range hood remote control - the cord exit is on the front and can be very close to the top frame of the cabinet. My installer had to be creative to not damage the case and drill a diagonal hole. It would be nice if the cable outlet were located at the back next to the rectangular ventilation slot.
