Review on Yamaha TT-S303 Hi-Fi Vinyl Belt Drive Turntable – Piano Black: Experience Unmatched Sound Quality by Somsak Pasalae ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The item is of good quality, there is only one minor defect.

I use in tandem with Marantz NR1200 and B&W607. The player is really very easy to set up and operate. The sound is very pleasant. After a year of regular use, it stably keeps the desired speed, no complaints. With the previous amplifier, I used the built-in phono stage for the first time, but later I switched to an external Pro-Ject and the records began to play brighter, deeper, and more saturated. Now I use the built-in Marantz, but I plan to switch to external again in the near future. We often listen to records, plus a couple of times I forgot to turn off the player (hitchhiking, nevertheless, is a useful thing), and by the end of the year of use, the sound faded. I changed the needle to Audio Technica AT-VM95E, the brightness returned, but I did not notice any significant difference with the standard needle at the beginning of use. In addition to sound data, tactile sensations from the use of technology are important to me, and cheap materials for buttons and a lock, especially in contrast to the good quality of other elements of the player, even after a year, are very frustrating. If you have a similar fad, then I recommend looking for another model.

Pros
  • Good sound, easy setup, nice looking.
Cons
  • Mediocre built-in phono stage. The lacquered body is very beautiful, but dust and fingerprints (especially if a child can reach) are very striking. The power and speed buttons, as well as the tonearm lock, are made of very cheap plastic. A couple of times I really regretted the lack of hitchhiking.
