This mat is wider than most and longer than most, which is exactly what I needed in front of my sink. It is long enough that the walk from the sink to the fridge to the cutting board is all done on the mat. No on/off. The only down side is that it is TOO slick. The first time I walked into the kitchen, in my rubber shoes, my foot slipped out from under me. After 2 weeks, it is still slick and we have to be careful when walking in the kitchen. (Don't run into the kitchen.ever!) Otherwise, while you're standing there, it's great! :-D
