Review on πŸŒͺ️ 6000TR Typhoon Short Ram Air Intake System by Todd Adams

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Adds a throaty growl to the 1.8-liter MX-5, great build quality.

My Typhoon has been installed on my 1999 MX-5 for about 3 months. Installation was easy; Anyone with a bit of under the hood experience should be able to easily remove the intake manifold and install it in an hour or less. The included instructions are vehicle specific making it almost reliable. While the price is steep and performance gains are minimal at best, it offers nice hardware in the engine bay. Since dyno testing (under ideal conditions) only adds 2-3 horsepower, it definitely won't add much 'get up and go', but it does add a bit of MX-5 pomp. 2nd through 5th gears sound fantastic under quick acceleration and give the Miata a growling engine sound. It doesn't look like a cheap coffee can will suck in air like some of those cheaper, lower quality products on the market. I could tell that I feel a little more pull as I hit the Miata's power curve, but the acceleration rates are still similar to the factory. If you're looking for a deeper, sportier sound for an already near-perfect car, this is a fantastic addition. If you want to noticeably improve your track time, that alone won't do much.
