Review on Moog 81095 Coil Spring Set by Andrew Krishna

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Maintains rated ride height

Advantages: Good price. Works like a factory spring, smooth running; good coverage. Cons: No progressive speed that can handle heavier loads. With the 2nd generation CR-V, I wanted to keep the ride height. This narrowed my choices. Moog offers a lower cost replacement for a worn, sagging factory spring. I would go for more progressive spring rates (the ones where the coils change pitch) which would be a bit stiffer under load, but most good spring sets will fall. back an inch or so. In fact _I'm taking advantage of the range that the CR-V offers. I can't tell if they're even a bit stiffer than the original, as I've also replaced all the shock absorbers/struts with the (also yellow) Bilstein HD series. Buy a new (top) mounting spring(?) as the old ones made up as a set will not fit these cut ends so I had to rotate the parts until the top mount was crooked. In any case, it should be done straight when sitting in the car.

Pros
  • Easy adjustment
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.
