My Area mats all stay in place. I'm scared of removing the tape from wooden floors (in some places it stuck to the floor more than the carpet) but I appreciate that my carpets stay in place and no longer get caught in my robotic vacuum and don't slip under it. My legs. He's super sticky! I would not recommend using this rug for valuable rugs as it can ruin the underside with glue. I easily adjusted the placement of the mats to keep them from sticking out again.
