Excellent value for money - strong vacuum, no leaks

I'm just learning HVAC and don't want to spend too much money on equipment in case my career doesn't work out. This set convinced me with its price and quality. Pump. After receiving this kit, I tested the vacuum pump using Robinair premium pump oil and a CPS VG200 vacrometer. Very quickly the pump sank and withstood 140 microns. Moving on to a 3 ton Trane R410A system which I had fully evacuated before replacing the failed line kit, I pulled the system out using the 1/4" hose from that kit (valve core depressor from the hose removed) was connected to the suction line tap . with the Appion core remover (valve core removed). I connected a vacuum gauge to the liquid line tap as that would be the farthest point from the vacuum pump and would give the weakest vacuum reading in the system. I tightened the whole system right away, including the compressor, evaporator and piping kit โ€“ so that's a bit of a hassle. The vacuum pump pulled the system down to 250 microns in ten minutes. The pump felt slightly warm as expected, definitely not hot/overheated. I ended up flushing the system with nitrogen and tightening it twice more and the third time I pulled it down to 200 microns and isolated the system to check it out. 200 microns only went to 210 in 60 minutes and I had no problem with leaky hose connections during evacuation from this kit as others have described. Manifolds/Sensors: I set up the system with this kit's manifold and hoses with no problems with leaking hoses and fittings. The distributor valves worked smoothly and sealed well. The sight glass did its job and allowed me to make sure I was getting the right vaporization of the liquid refrigerant when I closed the (blue) suction valve to prevent the compressor from clogging. The sensors showed consistent readings where I was able to achieve proper subcooling and superheating with almost the exact amount of refrigerant indicated by the unit and calculated by me for the plumbing kit (0.5 ounce deviation). The temperature difference between the return and the coil was reduced by 22F, allowing the system to do its job well. Both the weight of the refrigerant and the temperature difference indicate that the gauges are accurate within tolerance. Overall verdict: For the price, I can't complain. High end pumps with 1/4 hose probably won't be able to reduce the entire 3 ton system used down to 200 microns in ten minutes. I can't comment on how long this pump will last with daily use, but for the price I wouldn't expect it to last as long as a high end pump. I can't say anything about the supplied pump oil because I used a premium brand. The manifold and hoses don't have the bells and whistles of high end gauges but they will do the job, I'll find out. Overall, I would recommend this kit to inexperienced trainees or journeymen who need emergency truck assistance without a lot of money.
