One of my dogs is horribly allergic to SOMETHING; a tablespoonful of children's antihistamine works very well to calm his itching and scratching -- the little guy would "cheek" antihistamine in pill form, then spit it out for me to find somewhere on the floor -- liquid seemed to be our only choice.
