Review on 🚗 Enhance Vehicle Performance with Monroe 58644 Load Adjust Shock Absorber by David Butterfield

Great addition to my Trailblazer

I installed them on my 2004 Trailblazer LT last week. I am very satisfied so far. I was interested in something that would help improve ground clearance and back stability with moderate loads. Sometimes we drag things, but not very often. We transport a lot of freight, go on vacation or visit family several times a year. Our "family situation” changed abruptly after we bought our short-wheelbase Trailblazer without the factory third-row seat. We added a custom bench seat in the third row at Little Passenger Seats in Modesto, California (they do a fantastic job, by the way). This gives the kids room to spread out but takes up most of the rear cargo space. This shifts our need for hauling cargo to the "motorist" who routinely hauls over 250 pounds of luggage behind the rear axle with more leverage than you might think (creating a higher apparent tongue weight). Our TB handles it well most of the time, but the closer it gets to 100,000+ on the odometer, the more the stock shock absorbers wear out. These shocks provide a very friendly ride when paired with a set of Monroe 171341 Quick Strut strut inserts for the front axle. a car ride similar to when the truck was new. It's forgiving when it should be, but it also feels a lot more confident in corners, slows less when stopped, etc. I was concerned that the extra assist spring would create stiffness and that wasn't a problem at all. The only thing to note is that the rear ground clearance increases slightly. I measured before and after and within a few days of installing the truck was about 5/8 inch higher in the rear. It's noticeable if you look for it, but not bad. We weren't trying to haul a ton of cargo. so far, but what we had didn't seem to bother me at all. I am very happy with the purchase. Be careful when ordering: they are sold and shipped in pairs. You must return the kit.
