Review on Enhance Your Jeep's Door Hinges with Rugged Ridge 11202.05 Door Hinge Cover Kit, Black for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JKU by Alvaro Delic

A good trim for the infamous Jeep hinges

Like many other Jeep owners, I was shocked that my door hinges were gradually starting to corrode. In less than 4 years! The paint has peeled off, white discoloration of the aluminum surface from below. When removing the hinges, I already noticed rusting on the sheet metal of the door. Excellent. And what now? Chrysler: Denies any liability ("Warranty only covers penetrating rust. This is surface corrosion"). Truth? Repaint or cover hinges: a major inconvenience. You will have to remove all 4 doors to remove the hinges and take them to the shop to be repainted. Doable if I lived in Southern California instead of here in upstate New York. Buy new (or aftermarket) hinges: EXPENSIVE (about $600-800 for a 4-door Wrangler -> "Rugged Ridge" hinge pads! - relatively inexpensive (less than $200 for 4 doors) - few installation hours - whatever hinges look underneath - give generous grease under the base to prevent further corrosion of the door panel and hinges a couple of black inserts and covers are included from the factory Just a small note, the supplied screws hold up to significantly less torque than Standard as they are all hex and no torx I almost blew one of them off in the process.

Pros
  • Body and Trim
Cons
  • Out of Style
