This tool is essential for anyone doing their own oil change. After failing to remove a stubborn oil filter from a 2002 Camry (which I accidentally retorted myself), I ordered this tool and successfully removed the filter. I had a filter with a reasonably sized end cap, but it slipped through the small protrusions on the installed oil filter. This tool does not slip! Before ordering, I read negative reviews about this tool being clumsy at INSTALLING the filter. I wouldn't use this tool to install a new filter, but many mechanics still recommend hand tightening. I'm sure if you screw the new oil filter in by hand until it touches the base you can use this tool to make a 1/2 to 3/4 turn. on other pages. This is a great purchase.
