Oil filters are hard to keep in an awkward position

I bought this along with a Motivx adjustable oil filter wrench for my 1993 Toyota Camry. I was unable to remove the oil filter on my Camry that was too tight with this Neiko wrench. It won't securely hold a hard-to-reach oil filter. After several unsuccessful attempts I switched to a Motivx dongle (model MX2330) and it helped. The Motivx key held non-slip and was able to remove the oil filter. Its spring-loaded handle design looks better than Neiko's 3-prong gear wrench. Both keys are made in…

Not a miracle cure as claimed and does not work in my case.

After trying to use this tool to change the oil filter I had to stop and buy a specific size filter wrench instead. First, this tool requires more clearance and sideroom around the filter than one would expect, which is not appropriate for the engine compartment of most modern cars or motorcycles; Secondly, the grip is not enough to loosen or tighten the filter, it just leaves a lot of scratches on your installed filter and, I believe, on the replacement filter too; Third, the 1/2 inch…

Amazing DIY tool

This tool is essential for anyone doing their own oil change. After failing to remove a stubborn oil filter from a 2002 Camry (which I accidentally retorted myself), I ordered this tool and successfully removed the filter. I had a filter with a reasonably sized end cap, but it slipped through the small protrusions on the installed oil filter. This tool does not slip! Before ordering, I read negative reviews about this tool being clumsy at INSTALLING the filter. I wouldn't use this tool to…

Great Wrench: Oil System Tools

I used this wrench to remove the oil filter on a 1994 Chevy K1500 pickup truck with a 5.7 liter engine that I recently purchased. I couldn't find a wrench for this filter so an Allen wrench was a good choice. This filter can be adjusted to a variety of sizes. It worked well in tight spaces. The supplied adapter from 3/8" to 1/2" is practical. The biggest downside to this wrench is that you really need to be able to use it with two hands until you start biting your jaws into the filter glass…

No grocery store.

I think this can be more effective for some types of filters than others. I use a royal violet filter which has a very round case with some angular pieces and scratches and doesn't hold up well. It scratches and would fare much better with rubber edges. It feels like something as odd as putting a rubber band around the pins would help stop the slack that keeps the thing loosening unless you push against the tension (something you can't do by doing it turn the socket wrench backwards - it causes
