I just bought a Cannondale with a left shock. When I removed the tire to mount it on my car, I saw that something like a spring was sticking out. I thought nothing of it and threw it in the trunk. Apparently this "spring" was actually a helical coil, which I somehow damaged because there was no way to fully inflate the tire. Of course, no auto parts store has this length, so I did a little research and found kits online that cost around $80-$100, which is absolutely ridiculous for what you actually get. This kit was the cheapest I could find and it did the job well. It took me about 10 minutes to read the instructions and put the new spiral coil into my hub. Since then I've put the splint on and off several times and haven't had any problems since!
