I have used these for baking where the butter and sugar mixture needs to reach a firm crack. They did the job well but were too big and that was my only issue. The sides are slightly sloped, but that might only be relevant for people who want to make small layered cakes. I have used them twice and of course they are a dent. But if you smooth them out with your fingers, then there is no problem. But I caution against this if you plan to use them many times.
