I went with the Genie kit. Everything you need is there if you don't opt for additional mounting hardware. I had the parts I needed. In any case, I didn't have to look for or buy each part individually. It takes some time to find the points on the ceiling for both turn points with the eyebolts. I had ceiling lights, bikes and ladders on the ceiling to get around or move around. If you have a clean ceiling, installation should be much quicker. Screwing into the jamb for added strength is possible because your cord doesn't have to follow a straight line perpendicular to the garage door. The most critical point is the point on the ceiling directly above the point (your choice) where the ball hits the windshield or anywhere else - it's up to you. Other installation points are not so picky. Note: I had to use a longer eyebolt than the one that came with it. I have a metal garage door and need an eyebolt with a nut mounted on the top edge.
