Strong chemical smell and taste - plastic base, don't trust this one

Don't let the cute design and low price fool you - I thought it was cheap for a reason. A bad chemical smell from the kettle will make the water undrinkable. The water was boiled 10 times and washed off with soap and water but the strong chemical smell remained. For some reason, brown spots began to form on the bottom. Cheap/faulty design and probably dangerous chemicals in the water. Whatever the grade of "stainless steel" it should be the lowest. I don't even believe the claim that this is real stainless steel - or maybe the problem is the plastic base that the stainless steel sits on. And yes, the metal is on top of the plastic, which also smells really bad like burnt rubber or something. Whatever the problem, it's just not right. To return
