I bought Axolotl 40G for my aquarium. The temperature in my basement is 69.4. Axolotls need temperatures between 60 and 67 to thrive. I heard I can either buy a cooler ($250+) or one of those fans. I thought of a two-headed fan instead of a four-headed one, but decided it's better to have too much than too little. First I turned on the fan at high speed and within 4 hours my temp dropped to 66.9! I was pleased! I turned the fan down to the minimum and after 36 hours my water is holding at 63.3! This is madness! No chemicals, no refrigerants, just regular air! Fabulous! It can be a little noisy in the highs, but it's a loud fan-like hum (duh!) - nothing unpleasant. At low levels it's a low hum, which is comfortable for us because it's in our bedroom, and who doesn't like a bit of white noise while sleeping?! I'm very happy with my purchase and I'm glad I did! $35 for something my kids will thrive on, I do this all day!
