Theis is the second glowing ball I bought for my son. It only charges at night with 4 AA batteries for a couple of weeks, so I definitely had to invest in rechargeable ones. However, this is debatable, since after a few months the light has dimmed so imperceptibly that you don't even notice it anymore. We stopped worrying about changing batteries after a few months because you couldn't even tell it was on and wasting batteries. I really wish there was a way to change the light or get a new one as it's not very cheap. If they could replace it or offer to fix it or tell me how to replace it myself I would happily change and recommend this review. But so far my son and I are very dissatisfied with this inferior product. And because the text is so tiny, with no backlight, it's very difficult to read, and I have pretty good eyesight.
