I like these skates. You'll definitely need to loosen the carts up a bit to spin a little smoother. The shiny metallic vinyl on the toe of the shoe is cute but VERY easy to tear. I scratched my toe on the pavement and the entire front of the vinyl peeled/cracked very quickly which was very disappointing. I bought a pair of pink suede socks to protect them - that's fine - but I would recommend that you buy socks before you take them off - especially for a beginner or they'll look terrible in five minutes. I'm not a small person and I usually wear 8.5 women's shoes and they've held up well! Very nice skates for the price - good skates for beginners but after a while I will definitely switch to more durable leather skates with metal carts.
