My husband is very happy with this carafe. He keeps it upright with a wine aerator (venturi) that fits perfectly into the opening as he pours the wine into the bottle, effectively aerating it twice after which it hits the punctured spot and squirts into the decanter. The carafe is angled, maximizing contact with air to continue aeration. This decanter does its job well; If the wine needs more aeration, he pours it in. Skip the recommended decanter brush for oenophilia - it doesn't go through the neck of this decanter. I wasted money on this. Remember to consider the larger size of this carafe when considering where you will be storing it.
