. GPS knows that the included windshield mount is practically useless. Anyone also trying to buy a replacement.

Anyone who has bought a Garmin sat nav knows that the windshield mount that comes with it is practically useless. Also, anyone who has attempted to purchase a replacement windshield mount knows that most replacement mounts are only marginally better, only work temporarily, and eventually (rather quickly) become virtually useless. In short, this is the only mount that has always worked well. for me (I had at least 3 different ones that were more expensive than this one). Some things to consider before purchasing: 1. Make sure the windshield is clean before installing the mount. Car windshields are prone to oil buildup, which reduces the adhesive properties of this device. I use alcohol wipes, but there are stronger cleaning solutions for heavily soiled windshields. If you use a suction cup (I use a suction cup) IT FALLS OFF the first few times you install the unit, after a few hours and sometimes even a few minutes. No panic. This is normal, especially if you live in a place where the weather and temperature are constantly changing. The first few times it is applied to the windshield, the rubber suction cup will expand and contract several times, causing it to detach from the windshield. After a few days, the rubber will adjust to its surroundings, stop expanding and contracting, and pretty much stick to the windshield unless you take it off. During the work day I park my car outside for several hours a day where it is exposed to extreme heat (as well as several months and some days of extreme cold - Texas weather is unpredictable). Even under these conditions, the mount will remain attached to the windshield. We highly recommend this product. It's durable, affordable, and most importantly, it stays on your windshield.
